Paths
White County
High School requires 28 credits for graduation. Students must complete
the core curriculum plus either the university path, the technical path,
or a dual path.
University Path---Includes
a program of study focusing on university preparation curriculum
Technical Path---Includes
a program of study focusing on a particular career technical area
Dual Path---Includes
a combination of university and technical path requirements
Requirements
· Students
who enter high school beginning 2007-08 must be enrolled in an English,
math, science, and social studies class each school year.
· Students
shall complete one credit of wellness. JROTC I and II (2 credits) will
substitute for the state wellness requirement.
· All
rising ninth grade students will be enrolled in Freshmen Focus. This
course is designed to ensure academic success, build character, develop
proper study habits, and initiate college/career exploration.
· All
rising ninth grade students will be enrolled in content reading. The
students will learn, practice, and internalize strategies that are
essential life-long learning skills for reading, writing, understanding,
and interpreting content specific materials.
Purpose
Freshman Academy is a bridge from the eighth to the tenth grade. Support
mechanisms are the core of the academy. Through the academy curriculum,
students are given concrete ways to make the transition from middle school
to the academic and behavioral expectations at White County High School.
Parental involvement is a vital component of the academy.
